A Somatic Approach

Our experiences live not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, emotions and nervous system.
My approach brings attention to what is happening in the present moment — sensations, emotions, impulses, images and patterns of response. Through focused mindfulness, embodied awareness and a supportive relational space, we can become curious about what is already here rather than trying to force it to change.
The body and nervous system have an inherent capacity to move towards greater regulation, connection and integration when there is enough safety, space and support. My role is not to impose a solution, but to accompany and support this process as it unfolds.
Approaches I draw on
You don't need to know which approach is right for you — I draw on them flexibly, depending on what feels most supportive in the moment.
Somatic Experiencing® (SE)
Developed by Dr Peter Levine, a gentle approach to exploring how stress and overwhelming experiences affect the body and nervous system. Through attention to sensations and small shifts, we make space for greater grounding, regulation and presence. It does not require retelling your story in detail — we work at a pace your system can manage.

Brainspotting
Developed by Dr David Grand, an approach that combines a chosen point of focus in your field of vision with awareness of emotions and body sensations. It offers space to explore experiences that may be difficult to put into words — much of the process can happen quietly, without needing to talk.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Developed by Dr Richard Schwartz, an approach that recognises the different parts within us — including those that worry, criticise, protect or long to create. We meet these parts with curiosity and compassion, exploring their needs and developing a more trusting relationship with ourselves. No part of you is seen as bad.

NeuroAffective Relational Model® (NARM)
Developed by Dr Laurence Heller, an approach that explores how early experiences and relationships shape our connection with ourselves and others. Rather than revisiting the past in detail, we bring curiosity to protective patterns in the present, making space for our needs, choices and authentic expression.

NeuroAffective Touch®
Developed by Dr Aline LaPierre, an approach that brings together body awareness, dialogue and supportive touch to explore physical and emotional experience. Touch is always optional — any touch is discussed and agreed with you, with ongoing respect for your comfort, preferences and boundaries.

Identity-oriented Psychotrauma Theory and Therapy (IoPT)
An approach developed by Prof. Franz Ruppert that explores identity and the effects of overwhelming experiences. Beginning with an intention you choose, it uses a process called resonance to explore your inner experience and relationship with yourself and your parts. In one-to-one sessions, we work with your intention and your inner parts, using mats or small objects to represent them. In a group, the work takes the form of a constellation: other participants offer their resonance for the parts of the person who is exploring their intention — a shared process of self-inquiry.
